Nearly 80 attendees gathered on Weds. evening, Jan. 17 at Washington University for the first 2024 event in the Ignite YP Staenberg Speaker Series. The guest speaker was especially familiar with the facility—Amy Kweskin, CFO and executive vice chancellor for finance at WashU discussed what it takes to run a world-class university.
“It takes people, it takes places and of course it takes a pretty penny,” Kweskin said. “As the CFO it’s my job to make sure WashU has the resources to run every day and into the future and help our leaders make the right decision to use those resources. It wasn’t until I actually got here that I encountered the breadth of what a university like WashU really does and the impact that it really makes. What I learned is that WashU is a community that runs 24/7. We’re taking care of students 24/7, we’re taking care of patients 24/7, sometimes research goes on 24/7. Across the Danforth Campus where we are today and at the med school just across Forest Park, we provide education and patient care and as a community we’re providing housing, dining, health, wellness facilities, security, IT. . . the list goes on and on.”
