A group of protesters assembled in front of the American Red Cross building on North Lindbergh Boulevard Thursday, Nov. 9 to plead for the organization to provide care for Israeli hostages. About 40 people held photos of the hostages, Israeli flags and signs, as they chanted, “Bring them home!”

The gathering was part of a nationwide effort to request assistance from the Red Cross, according to one of the local organizers, Dr. Tal Koppelmann.

“A group of medical staff initiated this,” said Koppelmann, a pediatric surgeon at Cardinal Glennon Hospital. “It is intended to create awareness for the Red Cross to take action. We have no idea what the conditions of the hostages in Gaza are. They are wounded and we know that hostages require medical treatment. We demand the Red Cross get involved, make sure they are in proper conditions, getting medical treatment and are being fed.”
