The Congregation B’nai Amoona Mitzvah Day 2023 on May 7 honored Rabbi Joe Davidson for his many volunteer activities.

Davidson was presented with a purple cape that read “Our Mensch with a Mustache,” a callout to his distinctive handlebar mustache.

“I’m very touched to be an honoree,” Davidson said. “Judaism believes that each one of us can affect the cosmos by what we do. That’s really amazing. The whole ideal of mitzvot is that in some way or another we affect the world in which we live.” 

Mitzvah Day, now in its 6^th year, honors the memory of Lynn Myers. Dozens of B’nai Amoona members spent the morning working on mitzvah projects. They included baking challah, cooking soup and assembling gift bags for first responders.
