NJT receives 11 nominations for 2019 St. Louis Theatre Circle Awards

The Jewish Community Center’s New Jewish Theatre has received 11 nominations for the 2019 St. Louis Theatre Circle Awards for outstanding achievement in local professional theater. Nominations for the St. Louis Theater Circle Awards are divided into categories for musicals, dramas, comedies and opera. Nearly 130 locally produced, professional theatrical productions were presented in the St. Louis area in 2018. NJT received the following nominations:
• Katy Keating, outstanding supporting actress in a comedy, “Life Sucks”
• Sarajane Alverson, outstanding actress in a comedy, “Raging Skillet”
• Alan Knoll, outstanding actor in a comedy, “An Act of God”
• Rob Riordan, outstanding actor in a drama, “New Jerusalem”
• “Life Sucks”outstanding ensemble of a comedy
• Edward Coffield, outstanding director of a comedy, “Life Sucks”
• Tim Ocel, outstanding director of a drama, “New Jerusalem”
• “Life Sucks,” outstanding production of a comedy
• “New Jerusalem,”outstanding production of a drama
• Amanda Were, outstanding sound design in a play, “Life Sucks”
• Peter & Margery Spack, outstanding set design in a play, “Life Sucks”
Kathleen Sitzer, the founding Artistic Director of NJT, will receive the organization’s Lifetime Achievement award. Sitzer’s award recognizes her leadership in creating NJT’s legacy of artistic excellence. Winners in more than 30 different categories will be announced at the awards ceremony on Monday, March 25 at the Loretto-Hilton Center on the campus of Webster University.
