Nishmah Salon looks at passion and poetry
Published April 13, 2017
Nishmah’s Salon series will welcome Aura Kavadlo, language arts teacher at Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School, as facilitator on Tuesday, April 25.
Participants will explore poems by Israeli and/or Jewish poets and the topics that they spark in this Nishmah salon. The salon will look at the beauty and power of their words while illuminating their deeper meanings, such as prejudice, identity and love.
Kavadlo has been teaching in St. Louis since she arrived here from New York City 11 years ago. She was the 2008 recipient of the Rabbi Howard M. Graber Creative Teacher Award and has written blogs for Jewish in St. Louis and Pomegranates and Honey.
The salon offers an opportunity for women of all ages to connect and engage with other women in meaningful discussion on topics of interest to Jewish women.
The salon is offered at two different times on Tuesday, April 25.
• 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mirowitz (348 S. Mason Road in Creve Coeur). Participants may bring a bagged lunch. Snacks and drinks provided.
• 7:30 to 9 p.m. at a private home (address given with registration). Snacks and drinks provided
The suggested donation for each salon is $18 ($5 for students). Register online at www.nishmah.org or by contacting Nishmah Director Sara Winkelman at 314-442-3268 or [email protected].
