Nishmah included in Slingshot Guide supplement

The Slingshot Guide has included Nishmah, a program of the the Jewish Community Center of St. Louis, in a supplement recognizing Jewish organizations making a difference in the lives of women and girls. Nishmah is one of 19 organizations included in the Women and Girls Supplement, one of three supplements focusing on a specific issue or regional area included with this year’s guide. Nishmah has been included in the supplement each of the three years that it has been published by Slingshot.

Organizations were evaluated on innovative approach, the impact of the work, the leadership role in their sector and results. Groups were selected from hundreds of finalists reviewed by 93 professionals with expertise in grant-making and Jewish communal life.

The supplements were released this week alongside the 10th annual Slingshot Guide, Slingshot 2016. The supplement, published for a third and final year, aims to help expand the ability of the selected organizations to carry out their missions, as well as expand the resources available to volunteers, activists and donors looking for new opportunities and projects that, through their innovative nature, will ensure the Jewish community remains relevant and thriving.

“Nishmah is proud to be among the organizations included,” said Nishmah Director Sara Winkelman. “The organizations included in Slingshot’s women and girls supplement demonstrate the potential impact on and by women and girls in Jewish life today.”

The supplement was supported through a generous partnership with the Jewish Women’s Foundation of New York.
