Nishmah celebrates Persian-inspired Purim event ‘Shushan Nights’ Purim event

Nishmah will hold Shushan Nights Purim Journey, a Persian-themed night out for Jewish women and girls, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center’s Arts & Education Building, 2 Millstone Campus Drive.

Guests are encouraged to wear festive costumes for the evening of fun, drinks and dinner. The event will include opportunities to experience the mitzvot of Purim, enjoy belly dancers, receive a Henna tattoo, and drink “Vashti” shooters, among other activities. The evening will feature a short presentation, beginning at 6:30, with a “Hamilton-esque rap-style Megilla” and improvisational comedy, before continuing with music, food and celebration.

The cost to attend is $36 when registering by Feb. 28. After that date, walk-ins will be welcome at the door for $50. The program is for women only (bat mitzvah age and up). Dietary laws observed. Student and senior rates are available upon request.

The event is chaired by three generations of Dobkin women (–Renee Dobkin, Shari Cohen, Lisa Deutsch, Barb Prost and Sarah Cohen–) who led a planning committee of 45 women. The event is supported by J Associates.
