Published October 8, 2014
Nusach Hari B’nai Zion will once again offer its adult bar/bat mitzvah program, a 10-week survey of classes in Judaism starting Wednesday, Oct. 22. Participants meet once a week from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (on eight Wednesdays and two Tuesdays). NHBZ’s Rabbi Ze’ev Smason and other teachers will present courses on a variety of topics, including: A tour of the Torah in 90 minutes; Jewish core beliefs and spirituality; the Jewish woman; and a selection of mitzvot and how we can grow from them. The program is designed for adults who may have missed out on having a bar/bat mitzvah or who felt that they did not get enough out of the process. The program culminates in an optional final bar/bat mitzvah ceremony where participants may individually present a talk to peers, family and friends. A complete listing of courses and dates can be found at nhbz.org. The program costs $99 for members and $125 for non-members. Reservations are required. For more information, call 314-991-2100, ext. 2. NHBZ is located at 650 N. Price Road in Olivette.
