Next Dor STL hires first executive director

Next Dor STL announced recently that Ruth Schachter has been appointed as the organization’s first executive director.

Schachter will be primarily responsible for cultivating connections in the Jewish community, both to potential users of Next Dor STL and to possible donors willing to support the efforts of Next Dor STL.  Schachter grew up in St. Louis and received an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and graduate degrees from the University of Maryland and the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem.

“I look forward to helping Next Dor STL continue to grow and reach young adults in their 20s and 30s who are exploring their Jewish identities in St. Louis,” said Schachter. “Next Dor STL is both a welcoming, urban physical space, and an incubator for new ideas and possibilities for creating Jewish community.  I am excited for the opportunity to become part of such an innovative organization.”

Next Dor — located next to Central Reform Congregation in the Central West End — is a nonprofit that aims to strengthen the Jewish community by creating a post-denominational, non-institutional, urban Jewish community space for young adults in St. Louis.
