New Mt. Sinai Cemetery plans tour

The Koplar Family Mausoleum will be one of the sites visited in a guided tour of the New Mt. Sinai Cemetery and Mausoleum, 8430 Gravois Road in south St. Louis County, from 1 to 3 p.m Sunday, May 22. Among those interred in the mausoleum are Sam Koplar, builder of the Park Plaza; his son, Harold Koplar, founder of KPLR-TV (Channel 11); and his son-in-law, renowned criminal attorney Morris Shenker.

The tour will be conducted by Esley Hamilton, preservation historian with the St. Louis County Parks and Recreation Department, and Daniel Brodsky, executive director of New Mt. Sinai. Bus service will be available from the parking lots of the three temples owning New Mt. Sinai: B’nai El, Shaare Emeth and Temple Israel. There is no charge for the tour or bus transportation.
