New Kol Rinah design helps architects win honors from AIA

The design of Kol Rinah’s new building on Maryland Avenue in Clayton helped its creator, Patterhn Ives LLC, win an award from the St. Louis Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture.

The Kol Rinah design was one of five projects for which Patterhn Ives received recognition at the annual Design Awards event held at the Kranzberg Arts Foundation on Sept. 27. The awards are given for excellence in design, and recipients are recognized as responsible for lasting contributions to the St. Louis region, its architecture, and future generations of designers.

The Kol Rinah design is described by its architects as a new limestone structure containing a sanctuary with entry positioned within an urban garden bounded by a canopy of mature trees. Linked to a pair of existing buildings, the addition will complete the new home for Kol Rinah, which is moving from its current location at 829 N. Hanley Road in University City.
