New Jewish Theatre productions earn accolades

The New Jewish Theatre’s 2014 productions earned 12 St. Louis Theater Circle Award nominations — including seven for “The Diary of Anne Frank.” The NJT production of “The Price” earned four nominations and “The Whipping Man” received one nomination.  NJT associate artistic director Bobby Miller earned two nominations individually for his performances in both “Diary of Anne Frank” and “The Price.”

“The Diary of Anne Frank” earned nominations for: 

• Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama

• Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama (Amy Loui)

• Outstanding Actress in a Drama (Samantha Moyer)

• Outstanding Actor in a Drama (Bobby Miller)

• Outstanding Director of a Drama (Gary Wayne Barker)

• Outstanding Production of a Drama

• Outstanding Set Design in a Play (Jim Burwinkel)

“The Price” earned nominations for: 

• Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama

• Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama (Bobby Miller)

• Outstanding Production of a Drama

• Outstanding Set Design in a Play (Mark Wilson)

“The Whipping Man” earned a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama (Gregory Fenner).

In previous years, NJT earned 10 nominations for its 2013 productions and 11 for those it staged in 2012. 

The St. Louis Theater Circle Awards honor shows produced by local professional theater companies. The group’s third annual awards ceremony will be held Monday, March 23 at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA), 524 Trinity Avenue in University City. The ceremony will be televised live by HEC-TV, beginning with ‘red carpet’ interviews at 6:30 p.m.  The gala itself begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 apiece and can be reserved by contacting the COCA box office at 314-725-6555, [email protected].
