New hire announced to head JGrads program at Chabad on Campus

Melissa Zissman has joined the team at Chabad on Campus–Rohr Center for Jewish Life and will head JGrads, the Jewish Graduate Student Association of Greater St. Louis.

Zissman is originally from Potomac, Md. She earned a bachelor’s of science in family science with minors in human development and leadership studies, and is working towards her master’s of social work at Washington University. In this role, she is planning on visiting college campuses, recruiting Jewish graduate students to sit on the executive board and attend programs, and helping students develop into strong Jewish leaders. 

While in St. Louis, Zissman was on the executive board of JGrads last year, interned at St. Louis Arc, will begin interning at Kids In The Middle, is an executive board member of Women in Leadership (a student group at George Warren Brown), and is a personal trainer at a Clayton gym. Zissman is also involved in advocacy and inclusive work for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities within the Jewish community. She hopes to graduate in May and eventually work towards becoming a couples’ and family therapist, specifically working with members of the disabled population.
