Mirowitz hosts Sifriyat Pijama B’America Hebrew story time

Children ages 2-8 who have at least one Hebrew-speaking parent are invited to a free, interactive story-time program from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18 at Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School, 348 S Mason Rd. in Creve Coeur. The event is part of Sifriyat Pijama B’America, a Hebrew literacy program that includes free, age-appropriate Hebrew books and Hebrew storytime activities, held quarterly at Mirowitz. The event will include Hebrew story time, a related craft projects, Israeli dancing and themed snacks.

Mirowitz was selected the St. Louis home for Sifriyat Pijama last fall, and Hila Ben Abraham is one of more than 30 Hebrew-speaking parents who have participated in the literacy program there. “We love receiving the Sifriyat Pijama books,” she said. “The story time events give me the opportunity to share my childhood with my boys. We listen to the songs I listened to and dance the steps I liked so much when I was their age. Simply put, it takes us home to Israel, even if for just an hour.”

To register for the next Sifriyat Pijama storytime, RSVP to Patty Bloom at 314-576-6177 or [email protected]

Families may register to receive free monthly Hebrew books at sp-ba.org.
