Local teen’s screenplay hits the web

Elizabeth Pollack, entering her senior year at Crossroads College Preparatory School, has accomplished what many aspiring writers dream of: her screenplay was chosen to be produced into a 10-minute film.
Pollack, daughter of Cathy and David Pollack, entered her script, Aftershock, into the Samsung Mobile Fresh Films contest, which seeks out talented teen screenplay writers, actors and film directors. Her script was chosen and a teen crew from St. Louis produced it into one of three films for the Fresh Films’ action category “Action Hero.” From Aug. 7 through Aug. 13, the public can view the three short films in the “Action Hero” category online at www.fresh-films.com and vote for their favorite online or by sending a text message for their favorite film by cell phone. Then, Aug. 21 through Aug. 27, the film could be up again for the “Viewer’s Choice Vote Off.”
The site also lists Pollack’s bio, and a copy of the screenplay she wrote and entered in the contest.
According to the Fresh Films Web site, Pollack’s screenplay portrays a young man returning to school, “only to find himself in the middle of an unexpected disaster. the old New Madrid fault line has been rumbling for weeks — tiny, imperceptible shocks that din’t prepare St. Louis for the earthquake to come. In a city unprepared for a disaster of this magnitude, he realizes he has to step up to protect his friends in the aftermath.”
Pollack, who also serves as the yearbook editor at school, has already written a full-length script, The House on the Dead End.
