Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel will hold a series of workshops entitled “Restoring Heart and Soul to Jewish Life.” On Friday, April 20, Robert Cohn, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of the Jewish Light will speak on “Save My Life Please: The Healing Power of Jewish Humor” with a dinner at 6 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m. Dinner is $12. On Saturday, April 21, UMSL English professor Howard Schwartz will present and lead a discussion on “Tales of the Great Jewish Mystics” immediately following services. Kiddush lunch will be served. On Sunday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., there will be six break-out sessions on a variety of topics, including “Torah Yoga,” “The Spirituality of Food,” and “Jewish Meditation.” For more information, visit www.e-bski.org or call 314-725-6230.
Aroesty to talk on church-state
Karen Aroesty, Anti-Defamation League Missouri/Southern Illinois Regional Director, will speak on church-state issues affecting state legislating at the OACAP board meeting, at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 25. NHBZ holds ‘Challah 101’
The Nusach Hari B’nai Zion — Women’s Rosh Chodesh Group, will hold “Challah 101” with Shiffy Landa from 10:30 a.m. – noon on Sunday, April 22. What’s so special about Challah? How do you create those beautiful braids? Participants will have their own dough to practice braiding, then take their challah home and bake it. Refreshments will be served. JEI at Earth Day Celebration
JEI — The Jewish Environmental Initiative will have a booth at the 18th Annual St. Louis Earth Day in Forest Park by the Muny on Sunday, April 22 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. There will be ongoing children’s projects and a Jewish Scavenger Hunt for Teens at 1 p.m. The JEI is a project of the JCRC. Shaving Israel holds fundraiser
On Sunday, April 29, Shaving Israel will present “I.E. Millstone: Hertzel of St. Louis; St. Louis’ Role in the Birth of the State of Israel and the Birth of West County.” The evening inlcudes an Israeli meal and entertainment from Shir Ami Sings. The event will be at Southwest Bank West, at 12452 Olive Blvd. Minimum donation of $18. More info available at shavingisrael.com.
Shaare Zedek series continues
The next event in Shaare Zedek’s adult education series, “Issues of Faith in Conservative Judaism,” will be on Thursday, April 19, at 7:15 p.m. Rabbi Pamela Barmash will lead a discussion on the topic, “Issues in Conservative Jewish Law.” On the following Shabbat, April 21, a Lunch-n-Learn discussion will further explore Rabbi Barmash’s presentation. The May event will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, with the follow-up Lunch-n-Learn session on Saturday, May 21 following Shabbat morning services. Rabbi Ari Vernon, Director of Secondary Education at the Central Agency for Jewish Education in St. Louis will lead the discussions. JEI to have booth for Earth Day
JEI — The Jewish Environmental Initiative will have a booth at the 18th Annual St. Louis Earth Day in Forest Park by the Muny on Sunday, April 22 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The JEI booth will also feature information about Jewish life and the environment.
Festivities throughout Earth Day will include educational exhibits, Eco Art Section, music on the main stage, farmer’s market and a variety of food booths and an Earth Day Bazaar.

Jewish Community Center’s Tour de Fun is scheduled for May 6
The Jewish Community Center’s 17th Annual Tour de Fun is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at the Jewish Community Center Creve Coeur Campus. Tour de Fun is now recognized as one of the premier events for families in St. Louis. Children and their families will explore over 30 vehicles, enjoy pony and train rides, create arts and crafts, watch entertainers, explore creative interactive areas, climb through large inflatables and more. Freund to lecture at Bais Abe April 21
“Evidence of the Exodus From Egypt in Archeology,” a lecture by Dr. Richard Freund will be held during a special Shabbat Lunch & Learn co-sponsored by Bais Abraham Congregation and the Archeological Institute of America on Saturday, April 21 with lunch at noon and the lecture to follow at 12:45 p.m.
The cost for lunch is $8.50 for adults and $6.50 for children

JCC will host Maccabi Trivia Night
The JCC will be hosting the Maccabi Club Family Trivia Night on Sunday, April 22 at the Marilyn Fox Building in Chesterfield at 6 p.m.
The upcoming event will benefit the St. Louis JCC Maccabi Games Delegation.
