Kolot Jewish Women’s Choir seeks new members

Women of all ages and backgrounds who enjoy singing Jewish music are invited to join Kolot, the St. Louis Jewish women’s choir.  Kolot rehearses weekly at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, September through May, at a member’s home in University City. The first session for the 2012-2013 season will be Tuesday, Sept. 11.  All who are interested in joining the choir are invited to attend.  No auditions or prior choir experience are required.  All vocal ranges are welcome, however there is a particular need for members who can sing soprano parts.

Current participants come from all branches of Judaism. Kolot is directed by music educator Betti Blumoff.  The choir’s diverse repertoire includes songs in English, Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino. Kolot performs several times a year at Jewish community events, such as the Yom Hashoah and Yom Hazikaron commemorations, and at area retirement communities, including Covenant House and Crown Center.
