Kahn Foundation seeks grant requests from nonprofits serving seniors

Above, the Kahn Foundation supports a monthly senior lunch series, planned in partnership with Congregation Temple Israel, Congregation Shaare Emeth and United Hebrew Congregation, with additional support from the Women’s Auxiliary Foundation for the Jewish Aged.

The Nathan Kahn-Ernestine Kahn-Charles Kahn Foundation, established by Lina Kahn in 1990 as an endowed fund of Congregation Temple Israel, is now accepting grant requests from nonprofit organizations and agencies that provide aid, assistance and relief to the elderly.

The foundation will fund programs which improve the quality of life for senior citizens.

The Kahn Foundation Committee reviews proposals and awards grants twice per year. Funds are granted for a one-year period and may be considered for renewal. Grants are generally made in the range of $1,000-$20,000. Grants will not be made to individuals, political causes and candidates, for-profit entities or to cover regular operating costs, fundraising dinners or other benefits or courtesy advertising.

All grant requests must be submitted by Sunday, July 1.

Correspondence should be sent to: The Kahn Foundation Committee c/o Congregation Temple Israel #1 Rabbi Alvan D. Rubin Drive, St. Louis, Mo., 63141.
