Josh Hawley joins 18 GOP senators in resolution supporting Israel

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo., joined Senator Rick Scott, R-Fla., and 18 other Republican colleagues in announcing a resolution condemning the attacks against Israel by Hamas, a terrorist organization that controls Gaza, and reaffirming the United States’ commitment to Israel. In addition, the resolution asserts that Israel should take whatever means are necessary “to stop the murder of its citizens and foreign nationals residing in Israel.”
Scott, the bill’s lead sponsor, plans to ask for the Senate’s unanimous consent to pass this resolution later this week.
“Israel has every right to defend itself, and the United States must do everything it can to ensure Israel has what it needs to do so,” said Hawley. “I stand with Israel, and that is why I am proud to join this resolution.”
In addition to Hawley and Scott, the legislation is cosponsored by Senators John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., John Boozman, R-Ark., Mike Braun, R-Ind., Shelley Moore Capito, W.Va., Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., Ted Cruz, R-Texas,, Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, John Hoeven, R-N.D., Ron Johnson, R-Wis., John Kennedy, R-La., Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Thom Tillis, R-N.C., Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., and Todd Young, R-Ind.
This resolution is endorsed by the Republican Jewish Coalition and the Zionist Organization of America.
