JOLT welcomes 7th graders
Published March 28, 2013
All seventh graders are invited to attend a special night at JOLT, Jewish Opportunities & Learning for Teens, on Thursday, April 11. Students will attend two classes and get to know some of the current students and teachers while learning about their opportunities for next year. JOLT is offered by the Central Agency for Jewish Education for 8-12 graders in the Jewish Community. JOLT allows teens to make Judaism part of their high school experience by providing hands-on, interactive, eight-week classes from which to choose.
Classes are Thursday evenings at B’nai Amoona, 324 S. Mason Road in Creve Coeur. There will be a free dinner at 6 p.m. for the seventh graders. Then, teens will choose one class each hour. The 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. choices are “Jews “R” News” (using a Jewish lens to analyze current and recent news) and “Teens Take Action” (an interactive community service project). The 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. choices are “Israel Through Cinema” (exploring Israel with films and multimedia arts) and “PB & J: Picture Books and Judaism” (delving into the hidden messages scattered throughout children’s classics).
