JF&CS’ new staff member to provide counseling, support to Jewish day schools

Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JF&CS) has appointed David Weiner as its new School-Based Consultation staff member. Weiner will be responsible for providing clinical counseling and support to Jewish day schools in the St. Louis area. His work will be with staff and students both individually and as groups. Part of his responsibility is to address behavioral and emotional issues becoming culturally pervasive in the school setting, such as bullying or privacy.

Most recently, Weiner was the Inclusion Coordinator for the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in 2008 where he supervised a staff of 40 individuals who work within the JCC special needs program. In this capacity, he directed, developed and maintained social therapy programs for more than 200 adults and children with emotional or developmental disabilities. Weiner participated in JProStl, the Jewish Federation professional organization, as well as the summer camp programs. He is the recipient of the 2009 JProStl Social Service Award. Weiner holds master’s degree in social work and undergraduate degrees from the University of Georgia, and has experience in social therapy and substance abuse counseling.
