JF&CS, Bais Abraham Congregation host chronic illness community support group

Bais Abraham Congregation, in cooperation with Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JF&CS), is offering the opportunity for encouragement and support for those suffering with chronic illnesses. The Chronic Illness Community Support Group is free and open to those living with chronic illness, their families, loved ones and caregivers. It meets the last Monday of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. at Bais Abraham, 6910 Delmar Boulevard in University City. The next session is Monday, Nov. 29.

The support group is relevant for this time when an estimated 90 million people in the United States, or one in three individuals, suffers from a number of chronic illnesses. David Weiner, School-Based Consultant for JF&CS, will lead the sessions and stresses the importance of seeking help. “Chronic illness can disrupt a person’s life in many ways, causing anger, stress and anxiety,” Weiner said. “This support group can help individuals regain a much needed sense of control in their lives.”

The Chronic Illness Community Support Group does not charge and walk-ins are welcome. Although registration is not required, it is preferred. For further information, or to sign-up, contact Weiner at 314-812-9371.
