Jewish Women’s Choir seeks new members

Kolot, the St. Louis Jewish women’s choir, invites women of all ages who love to sing to join them for their 2017-2018 season.  Anyone interested in participating is invited to attend the group’s first rehearsal from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the May Chapel of Congregation Temple Israel, #1 Rabbi Alvan D. Rubin Drive in Creve Coeur.  There are no auditions. The ability to read music is helpful, but not required.

Kolot meets weekly, September through May, and performs several times a year at Jewish community events and at area retirement centers.    The choir was founded in 2005 by member Jackie Gerson and has been led for the past 10 years by music educator Betti Blumoff.  The more than 25 women who comprise Kolot represent all ages and Jewish backgrounds. The group sings a variety of Jewish music in English, Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino, as well as show tunes and standards from the great American songbook.
