Jewish Social Action Network sponsors Volunteer Day

In an effort to engage members of St. Louis area congregations in a joint community service project, the Jewish Social Action Network (JSAN) is sponsoring “2011 Volunteer Day at ReFresh Resale Shop,” 1750 Brentwood Boulevard in Brentwood. The event, which takes place on Sunday, Feb. 13, is a benefit for the work of the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, the area’s largest recruiter of foster/adoptive home for children in need. It also provides foster and adoptive parents with support groups, training and advocacy help. Volunteers will sign up to work one of two three-hour shifts (10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 to 4 p.m.) and will sort, process, tag, hang and organize the clothes in the new teen and young adult resale shop, which opens to the public in the spring. Volunteers must be age 10 or up to participate.

JSAN encourages congregations to engage in social action programming and coordinates community-wide social action projects. JSAN is coordinated by the Jewish Community Relations Council and its Bohm Social Justice Initiative. Tracy Zackson chairs the Jewish Social Action Network.

Space is limited and those wishing to participate must RSVP.

For more information and to RSVP, contact JCRC Director of Domestic Issues/Social Justice Gail Wechsler at 314-442-3894 or [email protected].
