‘Jewish Light’ offers Shepard Prize

The St. Louis Jewish Light has established the Shepard Writing Prize for Jewish high school students in the St. Louis area.
Entries are now being accepted for the Shepard Prize. Winning entries will be published in the Jewish Light and will receive cash prizes of $500, $250 and $150.
* Entrants must attend public or private school in the greater St. Louis area including St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Charles County.
* The article must be on a subject of Jewish content, the exact topic left to the writer’s discretion.
* Entries must be between 500 and 700 words, typewritten, double-spaced on plain white paper, 8 1/2×11. Any sources must be attributed.
* On a separate piece of paper, each entrant should list name, address, phone number, age and date of birth, school, parents’ names. The entrant’s name should not appear on the article being entered in the contest.
* Deadline for the first Shepard Prize is April 30, 2008.
* All entries become the property of the St. Louis Jewish Light. No entries will be returned. Decision of the judges is final.
* Relatives of employees of the St. Louis Jewish Light are ineligible.
