Jewish Fund for Human Needs seeks new at-large committee member
Published October 31, 2013
The Robert P. Jacobs Jewish Fund for Human Needs (JFHN) is seeking one new at-large member to begin in early 2014.
JFHN, co-sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council and the Rabbinical Association, is the vehicle of the organized Jewish community for allocating grants to non-Jewish grassroots social service organizations in the region.
Responsibilities of a fund committee member include:
• Helping screen potential agencies to be funded by the JFHN
• Reviewing applications received from potential fund recipients
• Attending a minimum of six site visits a year to potential recipient agencies
• Attending an allocation meeting twice a year (once in June, once in December) to review applications and select agencies to receive funding.
Those who have served on the JFHN committee find it a particularly meaningful and rewarding volunteer experience. The fund truly makes a difference in the lives of those in need. The committee reflects a diverse cross section of the Jewish community. Fund committee members serve for a term of three years.
To find out more about applying for an at-large position on the Fund committee and to request an application, please contact Gail Wechsler at 314-442-3894 or [email protected]. The application deadline is Nov. 20.
