Jewish Fund for Human Needs recruiting members
Published October 5, 2011
The Robert P. Jacobs Jewish Fund for Human Needs (JFHN), co-sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council and the Rabbinical Association, is seeking new at-large committee members to begin in early 2012. Fund committee members help screen potential agencies to be funded by the JFHN and attend a minimum of six site visits a year to potential recipient agencies (three site visits each cycle), as well as attend an allocation meeting twice a year (once in June, once in December) to review applications and select agencies to receive funding.
JFHN allocates grants to non-Jewish grassroots social service organizations in the region that respond to the most basic of human needs, such as by providing medicine for the uninsured, food for the hungry and shelter for the homeless. The fund truly makes a difference in the lives of those in need. The committee reflects a diverse cross section of the Jewish community. Fund committee members serve for a term of three years.
