Jewish Federation receives top rating from Charity Navigator

Charity Navigator, an independent organization that evaluates nonprofit groups in the United States, has given  Jewish Federation of St. Louis its highest possible rating of four stars.

Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher said in a statement that only a quarter of the organizations it evaluates receive a four-star rating.

“Based on its four-star rating, people can trust that when they decide to support the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity,” Thatcher said.

According to the Charity Navigator website, the organization previously gave Jewish Federation a four-star rating in 2008 and 2011.

Last year, the Jewish Federation of St. Louis’ Annual Campaign raised $10.1 million given by more than 4,000 donors. The organization provides millions of dollars in program funding to 15 local agency partners and three partners in Israel or overseas, as well as allocations to 10 national partner organizations.

“Every day, we strengthen our community and improve the world by helping individuals live with dignity, meaning and purpose, in connection to others as part of a life, well lived,” said Jewish Federation of St. Louis President and CEO Andrew Rehfeld in a statement. “We take great pride in receiving Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating because it reaffirms for our donors that their donations are being used responsibly to accomplish the mission of Jewish Federation of St. Louis.”
