Jewish Environmental Initiative sponsors visit to recycling plant

For those who want to know what really happens after they place items in home and community recycling bins, the Jewish Environmental Initiative is offering the opportunity to see operations firsthand at a local recycling plant. JEI is sponsoring a tour from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday June 26 of St. Louis-based Resource Management’s local recycling plant, 4375 Rider Trail North in Earth City. The event is free and open to the public.

“Our June open meeting of the JEI will give community members a chance to learn more about the environmental and economic impact of recycling,” said JEI Chair Susan Mlynarczyk.  “Participants will have a rare opportunity to see exactly how recycled items are collected and sorted, as well as what happens to them next and how they are marketed as recycled goods.”

Although the event is free, participants need to RSVP in advance to 314-442-3871 or [email protected].
