Jewish Attention to Mental Illness-Mental Health series continues

The next session of Jewish Attention to Mental Illness-Mental Health, the ninth in the series called “Shanda: There is None,” will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman Blvd. Rabbi Susan Talve and Rabbi James Stone Goodman will listen and teach a new paradigm for healing around themes of grief and recovery.
The Shanda series works to teach “that there is no shame in living with and around mental illness, that we live in a Big Tent and there is room enough within for everyone,” according to a news release.
The session will be followed by a ceremony called Big Tent, led by the Soul Squad at 2 p.m., featuring Talve and Goodman and music, stories, and poetry on the healing power of inclusion.
Both sessions are open to the community. For more information, call Goodman at 314-222-9864.
