JCC’s Used Book Sale returning this summer

The J regrets that it is unable to take book donations until after the sale.

Even in the age of smart phones, tablets and Kindels, there is something special about holding and reading an actual printed book. And thousands of them will be on hand with the return of one of the Jewish Community Center’s most cherished events.  The JCC’ biannual Used Book Sale is back after a yearlong hiatus and will take place August 22-26 in the Arts & Education Building at the Staenberg Family Complex (Schuetz & Lindbergh) in Creve Coeur.

Thousands of titles include mystery and intrigue, novels, biographies, politics, religion, sports, cookbooks, history, animals, art, science, science fiction, business, women’s issues, foreign languages, gardening, poetry, psychology, self-help, humor…the list goes on.  All proceeds from the sale benefit the Cultural Arts Department.

Parents and educators will find a large selection of books for children and youth as well as educational materials for homeschoolers. Multiples of titles are available for book club reading along with miscellaneous videos, books on tape/CDs and DVDs. The Used Book Sale accepts books, records, CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays in good condition. We do not accept encyclopedias, magazines, journals, VHS tapes or textbooks which are more than five years old. The J regrets that it is unable to take book donations until after the sale.

Sunday, August 22 is Preview Day, from 10am-4pm with $10 admission; free admission begins Monday, August 23. Hours are 10am-7pm Monday-Wednesday, and on Thursday, August 26, Bag Day, customers can fill a bag for $5 between 10 am and 6pm.
