JCC plans used book sale in August; donations still accepted

Customers browse at the 2013 JCC Used Book Sale. This year’s sale is Aug. 24-28.

The Jewish Community Center will hold its Used Book Sale from Sunday, Aug. 24 to Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Jewish Community Center Staenberg Family Complex’s Arts & Education Building, 2 Millstone Campus Drive in Creve Coeur.

Sunday is Preview Day, with hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the only day with an entry fee ($10). The sale continues from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Thursday, Aug. 28 is Bag Day, where patrons can fill a bag for $5. Bag Day hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The annual sale includes thousands of book titles for adults and children in a variety of genres as well as videos, books on tape/CDs and DVDs.

The opening day $10 fee helps underwrite expenses for the sale. Books are priced from 50 cents to $3. Special books — collectibles, art books, antique books — are priced as marked. Ticket sales will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. Children 16 and under are free. There is no cost to shop the remaining days of the book sale.

Donations of books are still being accepted through Aug. 14  at H.F. Epstein Hebrew Academy, 1138 Warson Road.
