NEW YORK — Forty puppies abandoned in Israel’s North during the war with Hezbollah were flown to the United States on Nov. 2 in search of adoptive homes.

The animal welfare group Hakol Chai has been taking care of the animals since it rescued them, sometimes under fire.

The puppies, all around four months old, were vaccinated, neutered and spayed.

Despite attempts to find homes for rescued animals in Israel, these 40 still need families.

Concern for Helping Animals in Israel, the American sister charity of Hakol Chai, funded the flight and is working to find adoptive homes.

Jewish communities in Maryland and Virginia will hold adoption days. In the meantime, the puppies will be boarded at shelters throughout the Washington, Virginia and Maryland area.
