Rabbi James Stone Goodman is seeking the community’s help in obtaining information about the synagogue Tpheris Israel that was around between 1929, when the South Side Hebrew Congregation bought the Blaine Avenue Tabernacle Church in the McCree Town neighborhood, and 1944, when the congregation sold the building to Unity Temple.

Through its years of existence, the synagogue was listed in directories as Tiphereth Yisrael, Tipheris Israel, South Side Congregation and others (unrelated to Tpheris Israel Congregation formerly in University City or the merged Tpheris Israel Chevra Kadisha congregation which is now located in Chesterfield).
