Ilene Joseph Nishmah Salon Series kickoff planned

Nishmah’s Salon Series is named in memory of one of Nishmah’s founders, Ilene Joseph, z’’l, a passionate supporter of the salon series and a tireless volunteer as a group facilitator. In celebration of her commitment to Nishmah, the Ilene Joseph Nishmah Salon Series Kickoff will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building, 12 Millstone Campus Drive. Guest speaker Miriam Brousseau will present “The Revelation Will Not Be Televised: Jewish Connection in the Digital Age,” through conversation and song.  Brousseau is the program director of Eli Talks: Inspired Jewish Ideas, a platform which captures, shares and nurtures conversation around ideas of Jewish Religious Engagement, Jewish Literacy and Jewish Identity. She helps develop people-centered, forward thinking, mission-driven social strategy for nonprofits and social causes. Jewish professional by day, rock star by night, Brousseau is half of the “bubblegum pop” duo Stereo Sinai, along with her husband, producer Alan Jay Sufrin.

The event will provide an opportunity to memorialize the salon series’ namesake by contributing to the Ilene Joseph Programming Fund (the cost for the program is a suggested $18 donation).

Three additional Salons will take place in the fall, winter and spring.  The Ilene Joseph Fall Salon will follow, taking place on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in various sukkahs around the community.

Those interested in attending the Aug. 17 program or contributing to the fund should contact Sara Winkelman at [email protected] or 314-442-3268.
