Babka, the rich, sweet bread swirled with chocolate or cinnamon, has long been a beloved treat in Jewish households, particularly around festive occasions. Now, as Rosh Hashanah approaches on the evening of Wed., Oct. 2, it’s a good time to make sure our babka baking skills are up to par.
For nearly 20 years, Chanala Rubenfeld, co-director of Chabad of Chesterfield, has been sharing her baking expertise through her Loaves of Love workshops. Now, she is inviting the Jewish community to an interactive, hands-on Babka Baking Workshop. The workshop is planned for Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at Total Wine & More on Clarkson Road.
Bake, share and connect
As part of this special workshop, Rubenfeld will share her knowledge in the art of babka making, offering both practical baking tips and the mystical significance behind the dessert.
Each participant will bake two babkas—one to take home and one to share with a friend. This act of sharing is at the heart of the Loaves of Love program, which celebrates nearly two decades of bringing Jewish rituals into homes across the community.
