The Jewish Federation of St. Louis just wrapped up its 2024 Annual Campaign with a fundraising total of $9.65 million –an $880,000 jump from last year’s $8.77 million. This result means big things for Jewish programs in St. Louis, Israel and beyond.
The success of this year’s campaign didn’t happen by accident. Fueled by a robust leadership team that included Development Committee Vice Chair Toby Warticovschi and Annual Campaign Co-Chairs Janie Roodman Weiss and Galia Movitz, their efforts helped drive engagement and rally support for the Federation’s mission.
A major boost came from philanthropist Michael Staenberg, president of the Jewish Light’s Board of Directors, who pledged up to $180,000 in matching funds for new or increased donations before the end of 2024. That match helped create momentum, inspiring donors to step up and give more.

The campaign also got a lift from a series of events, including L’Chaim, Women’s Philanthropy gatherings, the Men’s Event and various affinity group meetings. These gatherings weren’t just about raising funds—they helped strengthen connections within the community and deepen engagement with the Federation’s work.
“We are incredibly proud of the generosity and passion demonstrated by our community, which is reflected in this remarkable campaign result,” said Larry Gast, vice president of development at the Federation. “The funds raised will make a meaningful impact in sustaining Jewish life locally and globally.”
The Federation isn’t slowing down anytime soon. As it heads into the new year, the focus remains on fostering philanthropy and ensuring a vibrant Jewish future in St. Louis and beyond.
