HMLC lecture looks at ‘Churches’ Complicity in the Holocaust’

“The Christian Churches’ Complicity in the Holocaust” will be the focus of the third annual Marilyn (z’’l) and Arthur Gale Family Lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 at the Jewish Federation building, 12 Millstone Campus Drive. Robert Ericksen will explore the question of Christian complicity in the Holocaust, with attention to changing views over time regarding the role of German churches and their support of the Nazi state.
Ericksen is the Kurt Mayer Chair, Emeritus, in the department of History at Pacific Lutheran University. In 2003-2004, Ericksen was the Charles H. Revson Foundation Fellow at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. His numerous publications include “Complicity in the Holocaust: Churches and Universities in Nazi Germany,” published by Cambridge University Press in 2012.
Ericksen’s presentation will be followed by a dessert reception (dietary laws observed). This program is open to the public and free of charge. Seating is limited and RSVPs are required.
