St. Louis Hillel at Washington University has named Debbie Igielnik to the position of interim executive director, effective immediately. Miriam Rogers Singer, president of the Hillel board of trustees, recently announced that the board’s executive committee unanimously agreed to the appointment. Carolyn Amacher, Hillel’s previous executive director, resigned and left Hillel on June 1.
Igielnik, who had served as treasurer of Hillel’s board and co-chaired the transition committee with Gary Wasserman, M.D., has resigned from the board and officially began her duties last month. Sue Fischlowitz, a past president of the Hillel board who also stepped in as executive director a few years ago, will serve as a consultant to Igielnik during the interim period.
“After considering various alternative models for the interim position, we concluded that Debbie would be the ideal choice,” said Miriam Rogers Singer. “I know that Debbie will give her energy, her thoughtful insights, and her exceptional management and grant writing skills to benefit St. Louis Hillel and our students.”
When asked for her comments, Igielnik said “I’m honored to be chosen for this position, and I look forward to working with Hillel’s excellent professional staff and dedicated board, along with Hillel’s vibrant student leaders.”
