Healing the hurt of racism: New NCJW discussion group forming

National Council of Jewish Women – St. Louis Section is hosting a discussion group, “Witnessing Whiteness,” to help people identify racism. The group begins Wednesday, April 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and meets the first and third Wednesday of the month for five months.

This dialogue group is designed to assist people who identify as “White” with understanding racism, “White Privilege” and “White Supremacy” in America. This group will follow the book “Witnessing Whiteness” and will be led by a trained facilitator from the YWCA. Advance purchase of this book is recommended.

“This is an important way for the Jewish Community to learn new perspectives on ourselves, our reactions to racism in our society and begin to find solutions to the hurts of this issue for many individuals,” said Darien Arnstein, NCJW Board President.

The group is free to join and open to the public. Advance reservations required. RSVP to [email protected]. For more information, please contact Heather Silverman at 314-993-5181. Babysitting will be provided upon advance request.
