The magical sounds of the annual Arts & Faith St. Louis Interfaith Concert return to the Sheldon Concert Hall on Sunday, Oct. 13. This celebration of unity through music is free and open to the public. This year’s theme, “One World, One Family,” highlights shared connections among diverse faith communities.
Interfaith Concert: Grammy winners and rising stars
The 2024 lineup promises an extraordinary experience, featuring Grammy-winning soprano Christine Brewer, rising star Angel Love from Opera Theatre of St. Louis, former Broadway sensation Duane Foster and Maria A. Ellis conducting the Interfaith Youth Chorus. Performances will also include representatives from nine faith traditions: Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Baha’i and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Since its inception, the Interfaith Concert has brought together people of various faiths and backgrounds, promoting respect and understanding while bridging divides. After the performances, audience members will have the opportunity to engage with the artists and learn more about the represented faith communities, fostering deeper connections and dialogue.
Rachel Bray, publicity coordinator at Arts & Faith St. Louis, shared how the concert’s theme resonates with Jewish teachings.
“We will soon be reading from Genesis again and will be reminded of the covenant God made with Noah following the flood. We understand this to be a covenant to and for all people, Jews and non-Jews alike,” she said. “Music is considered the universal language, and while songs performed during the concert will represent diverse faiths and cultures, I know it will also be a reminder of how alike we really are.”
