Workers with SM Wilson Construction erected on Monday the first exterior walls of the new 90,000-square-foot Michael Staenberg Family fitness facility, the largest component of the Jewish Community Center’s $49 million capital campaign.

The new addition to the I.E Millstone Jewish Community Campus will combine with 60,000 square feet of reprogrammed cultural, early childhood and adult services space to create a 150,000-square-foot fitness, cultural and community center named for the Michael Staenberg Family – the campaign’s largest donor. Located at 2 Millstone Campus Dr. near Creve Coeur, Mo., the new facility will open in May 2009, with the renovated community space to open in May 2010.
