Fifth annual Hanukkah Hullabaloo moves to Covenant Place

David and Jeff Lazaroff

The 5th Annual Brothers Lazaroff Hanukkah Hullabaloo has a new twist this year. In past years, Brothers Lazaroff held the event’s dress rehearsal at Covenant Place as a treat for its residents.  This year, the official holiday extravaganza will be held at Covenant Place.

“One of our favorite places to perform is Covenant Place,” said David Lazaroff. “We love bringing fun stuff to the residents because they are so responsive and appreciative of the music. It always fills us up, and is every bit as fun as the actual event.”

Lazaroff said the event is also designed to benefit and raise awareness of Covenant’s ongoing Capital Campaign to raise funds for their new building.

Hanukkah Hullabaloo takes place Saturday, Dec. 5 in the Covenant I building, 10 Millstone Campus Drive. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m. A $10 donation is suggested. In addition to Brothers Lazaroff, the event will feature Rabbi James Stone Goodman, performing his series of poems, “Eight Nights”; Will Soll will bring a set of raucous klezmer music; DJ Boogieman will be spinning throughout the evening. The event will close with a special “STL Jews Who Rock” set. The Covenant Place Chorale will also perform a couple of songs with the Brothers Lazaroff.

The Lazaroff wives will be frying up kosher latkes to pass out to the crowd. Beverages will be provided by Urban Chestnut Brewing Company and Robust Wine Bar. Taste of Jerusalem will provide an assortment of Mediterranean inspired kosher food and LuLu’s Seafood & Dim Sum will offer a variety of choices. Event sponsors are STL Style and Enterprise Community Investment and individual donors.

“It’s fabulous that Brothers Lazaroff want to help Covenant Place,” said Joan Denison, Covenant Place Executive Director. “It shows that young people care about older adults and their quality of life and that good music and good fun connect generations.”
