Farewell party planned for Israeli emissary family

Gilat and Assi Gastfraind family are presented a mezuzah during the Hanukat Habayit housewarming at Bais Abraham Congregation last July.

Torah MiTzion Kollel and Bais Abraham are holding a farewell party for the family of Gilat and Assi Gastfraind, who have served as Israeli emissaries (shlichim) in St. Louis since July 2009. The event will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 at Bais Abraham, 6910 Delmar Boulevard.

The family is finishing their three-year shlichut in St. Louis this June and returning home to Israel.

Over the past three years, the Gastfrainds have served as community educators — teaching in Jewish community day schools, synagogues and adult education programs. They have also run Israel-centered events and programs for the community as well as hosting guests for Shabbat and holiday meals.

The farewell event will feature a BBQ dinner, activities for kids and presentation of a farewell tribute book. Email [email protected] for more information on tribute “ads” (offered free for families/individuals). Deadline for ads is May 30.

For the event, a $18-$36 suggested donation will help defray the cost of dinner and the tribute book. RSVP to Alayne at [email protected] or 314-721-3030 by Friday, May 25 (before Shavuot).
