EVENT HMLC TO REMEMBER ‘KRISTALLNACHT’
Published November 7, 2007
A look at the impact of theater as resistance against the Nazi assault on Jewish culture, religion and history is the focus of an evening commemorating Kristallnacht (the Night of Broken Glass) at the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building. The program is free and open to the public.
Jonathan C. Freidman, Ph. D., director of Holocaust and Genocide Studies and associate professor of history at West Chester University in Pennsylvania, will examine The Eternal Road, a biblical Broadway stage play produced in 1937, concurrent with the persecution of Jews in Germany. It opened on Broadway to protest against Nazi anti-Semitism. Light refreshments will be served. Dietary laws observed.
