Epstein to honor Howard and Jackie Oppenheimer

H.F. Epstein Hebrew Academy will hold its 73rd Annual Banquet, “The Future is Bright…Be the Light,” on Thursday, March 17 at the Hilton Frontenac. The event will honor Howard and Jackie Oppenheimer, as well as celebrate the school’s achievements during the academic year.

“It has been a tremendous year for EHA,” said Head of School Rabbi Yaakov Green. “Growth in student body, advancement in curriculum, added staff and resources are just a few of the many highlights and achievements at EHA. And, it is because of our dedicated community — and leaders like Jackie and Howard Oppenheimer — that allow our school to flourish. They are indeed ‘a light’ to our community and school.”

Among the 2015-16 highlights the school will celebrate are:

• Nine new staff/ faculty hires, including in the areas of curriculum development, special education and preschool

• Expanded department of student support services

• Enrollment increase in one year by 18 percent, including 40 new students and 16 new families

• Implementing a new technology program for students in grades 5-8 and a new software system for student/family/faculty communication

• Holistic character education program

• Music and movement program for early childhood.

• Weaving STEAM education throughout curriculum.

• Introducing innovative Hebrew and oral Torah curriculum for middle school.

Proceeds from the banquet and the Ner Tamid Campaign will expand academic and enrichment programs, help the school recruit and retain committed and talented educators, and provide financial aid to Jewish families.
