Environmental group plans Project Noah, tree planting

The Jewish Environmental Initiative (JEI), a committee of the JCRC, is once again this year promoting Project Noah:  A Week for the Environment.  Project Noah takes place Oct. 14-21 and includes Shabbat Noach on Oct. 20.

In conjunction with Project Noah JEI is organizing a Jewish community tree planting at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at Saint Louis Place Park (near Crown Candy in the City of Saint Louis). Rabbi Randy Fleisher of Central Reform Congregation and a past Chair of JEI will lead a short opening service. No prior experience with planting trees is needed and all ages are welcome.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own shovels.

For the first time this year, teen classes and youth groups from three area congregations, Central Reform Congregation, Congregation B’nai Amoona and United Hebrew Congregation, will be participating in the tree planting.

For more information about Project Noah or to RSVP to the tree planting, contact Gail Wechsler at [email protected] or 314-442-3894.
