ElderLink St. Louis, the free, centralized referral program for Jewish older adults, their children and caregivers, the Jewish Community Center and AARP are sponsoring an AARP Driver Safety Program from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at the JCC Staenberg Family Complex Arts & Education Building, 2 Millstone Campus Drive.  

“The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation’s largest classroom driver safety course designed for drivers age 50 and older.  It is especially beneficial in helping people live more independently as they age,” says Lori Zimmerman, ElderLink senior information referral specialist.

The AARP course covers the normal changes in vision, hearing and reaction time associated with aging.  It then provides practical techniques on adjusting to those changes.  Participants also receive a thorough review of “rules of the road,” with an emphasis on safety strategies.  Many automobile insurance companies offer a discount to persons who have completed this program.

The cost is $12 for AARP members, and $14 for non-members, payable by cash or check at the door.  RSVPs requested by calling 314-812-9300 or e-mailing [email protected].
