“She knows what we’re going through and she represents us,” said Shaina Grossman, who was referring to Israeli singing sensation Eden Golan. Grossman, 22, was part of an enthusiastic gathering of 650 who came to hear Golan at The Factory in Chesterfield on Thursday, Jan. 16. When asked what they were most excited about during the performance Grossman and her friend Emma Katz said in unison “Hurricane.”
The song is Golan’s anthem and was inspired by an Israeli perspective of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. Golan’s interpretation of the song garnered her fifth place in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
A small group of pro-Palestinian protestors were visible on the outer road near The Factory, but they left before Golan took the stage.
The concert was supported by the Jewish Federation of St. Louis and United Hatzalah. Opening for Golan were Alex Rich and Folkston.
