Cultural Leadership to honor JCRC staffer

Cultural Leadership honors Amy Hunter, BJC Children’s Hospital, and Gail Wechsler, Jewish Community Relations Council, for their work in encouraging dialogues on diversity.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, Cultural Leadership will honor Gail Wechsler of the Jewish Community Relations Council and Amy Hunter of BJC Children’s Hospital with the organization’s Karen S. Kalish Troublemaker of The Best Kind Awards for their work in diversity leadership in the St. Louis community. The awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at the Nine Network of Public Media, with a 5:30 p.m. cocktail reception immediately preceding the event.

Created in 2011, the Troublemaker of The Best Kind Award was named for Cultural Leadership’s founder Karen S. Kalish. Kalish established Cultural Leadership in order to inspire the youth of St. Louis to “Stand Up, Speak Out, and Take Action” against injustice and oppression.

Immediately following the awards ceremony, Cultural Leadership will present a facilitated discussion, titled “Transformation Through Dialogue.” The discussion will include six participants who will discuss the challenges and benefits of dialogue across interracial and interfaith backgrounds.
